Three-phase induction motors are the most commonly used of all the electric motors. When a machine or piece of equipment is powered down, it continues to run for a correspondingly long time and many machines have very high levels of inertia. The Kimo 2B1.14 has been designed to provide electrical braking for electric motors.
A DC current is injected to the electric motor which creates a stationary magnetic field which will now try to hold the rotor in one position.

This slows and eventually halts the rotor completely and as long as the DC voltage is applied to the stator, the rotor will be held in position and resistant to any attempt to spin it. Electrical braking is a cost-effective way for industrial installations to have an advantage over other braking devices that rely upon friction to slow motors. Typical applications for electric motor breaking include grinding machines, wood working machines, mills, compactors, conveyor systems.
