Non-Latching Relays

Non-latching relays can be found in a NC position and they will stay in this orientation without any power supply. However, when power flows through the relay’s coil the relay switches to a NO position which is maintained while power is applied. Once the power is turned off the non-latching relay returns to its static NC position. Non-latching relays are ideal for push-button applications like keyboards and micro-controller buttons.

Non-latching relays have multiple applications being very durable and hard wearing and are perfectly suitable for use in a wide range of applications including household appliances, vehicle engines, industrial machinery and medical and telecommunication equipment.

Similar in functionality to a latching relay but with an obvious difference, a latching relay will stay in it the position it had when it was last powered up, but, a non-latching relay returns to its normal position when power is removed.
