Tactile Switches

Tactile Switches are a momentary electronic switch that only closes when pressure has been applied to it and is consequently opened when the same pressure is removed.  

Tactile Switches, occasionally known as Tact Switches only function with user interaction with the button or switch making contact with the circuitry beneath which is usually a PCB.

Tactile switches are found in a wide variety of applications including computer keyboards, musical instruments, TV remote controls, entry keypads, industrial control panels etc. Tactile switches come in wide variety of types to cater for many differing switching applications including: illuminated, environmentally sealed, surface mount, SPST, SPDT, DPST, DPDT, etc.
