Vibration sensors utilise the piezoelectric effect, which is the ability of various materials to produce an electrical charge when a mechanical stress is applied to them to monitor a wide variety of processes and applications.

Vibration sensors can therefore measure the changes in pressure, acceleration, temperature, strain or force of an object or material by converting these changes to an electrical charge. A vibration sensor can also be used to determine aromas in the air by measuring resonance and capacitance at the same time.
