What are Foot Switches?

Foot Switches are used typically with large machinery when the use of hand operated switches is a safety concern. Foot switches operate by relying on foot pressure to change the electrical circuits contact status to start a particular process such as driving a press tool.

What types of Foot Switches are available?

Foot Switches are generally available in 2 variants, momentary - which requires the foot switch to be continually pressed to perform a function and only resetting once the foot switch has been released. The second being the maintained/latching foot switch version which is operated when pressure is momentarily applied and it remains in the active state until pressure is applied to the switch again which causes the switch to break contact.
