Signal conditioning is the method of converting one type of electronic signal into another type of signal, devices that do this are known as signal conditioners. The main function of a signal conditioner is to convert a signal that is hard to read by conventional instrumentation into a more easy-to-read format.

Signal conditioners perform a varied range of processes necessary to make the output suitable for further processing including amplification, filtering, converting, isolation and range matching. The input for conditioning is connected to the signal conditioner and converted into a signal that produces the necessary output type for the instrumentation used.
