A clamp meter is an electrical test tool that measures current. It combines a digital multimeter with a current sensor and features a hinged jaw which can be clamped around a wire or cable to measure the current. 

A multimeter or VOM (volt-ohm-milliammeter) enables you to measure multiple parameters using just one machine. Typical multimeters can measure voltage, current and resistance. They are used for basic fault finding and field service work, and digital multimeters offer a high level of accuracy. Multimeters are available at a range of price points depending on their features.
